I am always getting emails or contact forms in my email inbox asking me things. Possibly about the site, how to do things such as requesting music used here, how to save graphics from my site, how to set up your own website, where I go to find music used here, and sometimes personal questions too. I always reply, but many times these questions are repeated by different readers here. On the suggestion of four surfers to this site, I have set up this page. Questions I get which may be interesting for other surfers here, I will add for you all. Don't worry, I won't reveal your name. Below are some  frequently asked questions and their answers. Feel free to write and ask anything which doesn't already show here....

Where do you go to get the music used at BritSAL.net?

I usually find most of my files at http://www.mp3raid.com/

Although I do belong to BearShare for the hard to find music. Both sites are free.

Your site is hosted by Yola. can you recommend them for a free website?

Yes, www.Yola.com are great for a free website host. I actually pay for the domain name BritSAL.net, but I bought the domain through Yola, and used them free for a month or so to try them out first. Their prices are good, and they are easy to use. Their free version is very good, although you do have to put up with a small advert for their site at the footer of your pages. They also have an exceptionally good support forum, so if you have any problems you can post there, and the response is super fast.

Am I allowed to copy and paste your poetry to share with friends, or post on my blog?

Yes, feel free! The way I see it, the more my poetry is aired, the wider audience it reaches. All I ask is that you leave my name at the bottom so folks know I am the author, and a link back to www.BritSAL.net would be nice, so folks can get back to me about my poems if they wish to.

How do you find the time to keep up your website, being as you are a full time carer too?

Once set up, the website doesn't take long to maintain. We are talking maybe ten minutes every morning for the journal, and the other bits can be added to or changed as time allows. I can often log on when Mum takes a nap, and I usually have an hour or so working on it after she has gone to bed at night. Don't forget, caring is hard and time consuming work, and we all need an escape from time to time. BritSAL.net is my escape, and my means of sanity!

The Sanctuary is an awesome place, very relaxing, calming and spiritual. Are you a spiritual person?

Indeed I am. I have had many experiences in life to influence my spiritual path. I feel we all need a quiet place of escape sometimes from the rigors of modern day living. I hope I have created such a place at the Sanctuary.

If I email you, would you send me a particular piece of music used on your site which I like?

Of course I will. All my music used here is MP3 format, and I am sorry I don't have the time to change these files to wav files. Just drop me a line, or use the contact form, and let me know the page the music is on if you don't know the name of it. Don't leave it too long for requesting though, because I do change the music here every now and then.

. Are you still running a mailing list?

Yes, I have a very active mailing list with over 100 members. The link you can find on the Site Map page, and on the homepage here also. The mailing list has a seperate website now consisting of just a couple of pages. You can find the website HERE with instructions for joining. I don't send out every day. In fact sometimes I send as infrequently as once every week or two ( or rarely two sends in one day ), but the mailings do sometimes contain pictures and film of baby Erin, aswell as lovely graphics and links. We are always open for new membership. The sends are not long, just containg maybe three or four graphics, and a link, poem or quote.  Drop me a line if you are interested!

Can you write poetry by request? I have a function coming up, where I would like a personal poem written for me to be read there?

I have been known to do this a few times. I wrote a poem once for someone organising a school reunion, but it is not something I enjoy to do if I don't know personally who I am writing about. It makes it hard to get a feeling for the writing- if the subject matter is a stranger. I have written poetry for friends funerals before, but they are people I know well, which makes it easier. You can always drop me a line and ask ( contect page ). Of course the time factor matters a great deal too. I don't enjoy being under pressure to reach deadlines if they are close ones!

I like the pretty butterflies used here. How can I save them to my own computer?

If you are on Internet Explorer, right click and " Save Picture As" to a folder on your computer. If you are on Firefox, " Save Image As".

I like your little music player. Can you share the code for it, and explain how I can put it on my website or blog?

The music player used here now is the Yola music player, and all the music is now stored on my site. I do however have a music player I designed myself which I used to use here which works well.  I am happy to share. Copy and paste this code in black below into your website or blog, making sure you are in html code mode and not plain text. Host your music someplace like www.Fileden.com ( free ), and they will give you the code for embedding into a music player. When you have the code for your piece of music, add it where I have the red section highlit ( replace the red type with your own code, it wont work as is here ). Auto start and true may be changed. If you dont want the music to autostart, but want the surfer to click to start the music, replace the blue word true with false. My music loops ( plays over and over ). If you want your music to play once only, replace the green word true with false. If you have problems, drop me a line. I have added more of these players to peoples pages at different times than I can count on two hands. Have fun!

<P align=center><EMBED height=40 type=audio/mpeg width=140 src=http://www.fileden.com/files/++++++.mp3 autostart="true" loop="true"></EMBED></P>

Please note : My music player has since been changed to the Yola Player which comes with the web site, although the player shown above does work very well.

I need some help with my website / blog.  Do you offer help to beginners?

As my time allows, yes. I am always happy to help anyone who has a problem, if I am able to. Drop me a line! I am not too bad at websites and blogs, even html code, but am not too clever with computer / technical issues.

BritSAL's World is always so peaceful and calming. Don't you ever have a bad day? Why not have a place here for "Grouches & Moans" ?

Smiling at this one. Of course I have bad days, but why inflict those on others? I have days when I feel low naturally, but don't see how filling a website with negative vibes would help anyone, myself or the reader alike. I am not an angry type of person, my very nature is calm and easygoing - so sorry, I will not be adding a " Grouch & Moan " page.

I used to get emails sends for the poetry posted here and they stopped, what happened?

Feedburner / Google is an external application and not really an integral part of my website.Sadly the graphics were too many on the poetry and butterfly sends so I had to cancel the email sends. I do recommend getting the daily journal send, as I will add on that when poetry or butterflies are added, together with a direct link, so you can click from the email to the respective pages. Many people already get this, and the one email send a day won't flood your mailbox. It goes out between 6 and 9 pm UK time every day.

Do you edit the photographs shown here?

The photos I take and use are never edited with an art package, but they are always resized, because the blogs here do not allow huge photos. Rather than resize an entire picture to say 15% of it's original size ( which would leave any faces like a spot in the distance ), I often resize and crop so you can see the faces, the flowers or the point of focus. When I was with Lycos ( BritSAL.com ), they used to allow clickable thumbnails, so I could show a full sized photo which viewers could click on to see full sized. Yola don't as yet have this feature, but when they introduce it ( and I have asked ), then I shall use it. Here is an example of a picture I have resized to fit on the blog, but not cropped,, and you can see, it's impossible to view clearly.

Whereas this is much clearer and of a similar size:
