September 4, 2010

Good Morning Everyone,
A few hours ago when I got up it was very overcast - but now the sun has come out!
Last night we had a surf online, and I picked out a nice new TV at Argos online, and Rich reserved it for me, so he will go and collect it today. We also bought a special bracket for it to be attached to my bedroom wall, so it can be angled and tilted. It isn't often I get something so nice and so new, when it isn't a special occasion, so I am quite excited about it. I am also excited about the extra space it will create in my room. The TV has everything built in, including freeview, and is HD compliant.
It has cheered me up no end - and heavens I have needed that cheering up of late. Daily my mum declines. This morning I weighed her, she weighs 6 stones. I dont know if I have worked it out right or not, but thats 84 pounds ( I believe ). At one time, not very many years ago, she was around 10 stones, ( 140 pounds ). I am almost afraid to try and help lift her, as she is beyond fragile. She was always about two inches taller than me, but now she is so bent over, she is much shorter. Yesterday she spent most of the day being sick, undoing all the good cooking I had done, and bringing back all her medications ( one is anti sickness pill, if you can believe it ). Yesterday, her and I had a lovely talk. I believe she is now very aware of how unwell she really is. She has a look in her eyes which virtually says she has had enough. Several have asked on here how she is doing, and that's why I have posted today. I normally don't like to dwell too much, because there isn't anything positive to report really, and I don't want the website or journal here to be too depressing. Mum has always been a feisty lady, very strong willed and determined, but of late her fire is just an ember. It is truly heartbreaking to watch.
Anyway - it's TV day today, getting it, fitting it, and getting it tuned in etc.
It's great to have a little positive happening in the household for a brief time.
Have a super Saturday everyone, and spare some extra prayers today for the poor folks in New Zealand, as they endure the after effects of an awful earthquake.
 God bless you all!
Enjoy the new page added yesterday - Explorer.

P.S. I didn't have the time to colour my hair the other day, and am wondering if to end this business of regular colouring every month, and just go grey. The time factor involved just isn't realistic for me right now. I do know I am naturally very grey. If I were 30 or even 40 I could see some reasoning behind doing it, but I am 56 now, and am thinking maybe it's time for nature to take its course? I will make a decision within the next few days. Any comments, suggestions or views, your input appreciated in my Guestbook, thanks!

Morning Everyone.
It's another bright one here today. So far, September is showing itself to be a beautiful month, sunshine and blue skies.
For those who like to see my
Mailing List, there are some new editions online. You can always sign up to have reminders sent to your email address if you don't want to miss any, or you can bookmark the link and visit when you like. Each entry has a free MP3 download on it, for those like me who enjoy their music. I have had some lovely feedback regading the new style online mailing list, thank you everyone for writing.
I am on the look out for two new rose bushes. Yesterday I dug out a huge standard rose ( and fell over backwards in the garden while pulling out a root, sitting there for five minutes afterwards, stunned that I hadn't broken any bones lol ) - the standard rose was out of place, because my collection are all tea roses. I am looking out for a red tea rose, which I don't have, and possibly another colour, something rather unusual if I can find it. I won't know what it is until I see it. My dream would be to find a lilac tea rose, but I am not even sure there is such a thing - but wouldn't that look just amazing if there was?
Sometime during the next week, I am hoping to get a brand new TV for my bedroom, which will be fitted to the wall in there, and free up some valuable space. The Sony which is in there now has seen better days, and the colour has gone on it. It is an old fashioned tube TV, and the space it needs occupies half of my dresser. I am thinking, once the nice weather finishes and it becomes time for indoor jobs, I would like to rearrange my bedroom. It will be a big job, and take a good few days I am sure. I need to be in the right frame of mind for undertaking such a chore - not to mention having a back which feels strong, and an abundance of energy. I have a lot of things I need to clear out, including clothing, shoes etc, and lots of clutter and unwanted "toot" as I call it. Things we hang onto in the hope they may be of use, which includes an entire drawer of computer related junk, a spare computer mouse or two, leads, power supplies and so on, and another drawer filled with vacation memorabilia. I always intended to make scrap albums of my USA trips, but never got around to it, and the task now seems vast since I have a collection from four trips. I got to thinking, even if I made the albums up, they would be of little interest to anyone but myself anyway.
I have been a hoarder for so many years. The time has come for a clean sweep. Anyway - this is not the type of work to be tackled on a gorgeous day like today, because taking the year as a whole, we get too few of them. Maybe when September is done, the Autumn chill may arrive, and with it the desire to keep moving, active, and getting things achieved.
I have rambled enough today...so shall depart before you slump into your coffee cup with boredom.
Have a super day everyone, and keep healthy.

2nd September 2010 AM

September 2, 2010

Good Morning Everyone.
Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone for their emails about my little back garden. I was swamped! :-)
All, except for one, was positive. I guess you can't please all of the people all of time eh?
Because of that one email, I'd like to mention a bit here about our location. Our house backs onto a childrens park, where they have swings, slides etc ( for under tens ). Here, it is the last day or two before the children go back after the summer break ( a few have gone back already ), so many Mothers take the youngsters over to the park to play, enjoying the last day or two of holiday time. When we viewed this house the first time, the park did not bother me, simply because I couldn't hear back then.  Now I have my hearing, and know I made the right choice in this house. I can think of no finer sound, than that of childrens laughter...no finer sound in all the world. Hearing the laughter is even more enjoyable than I could have imagined. Many afternoons, I sit with a coffee on my decking, and listen to them chortling away. The road we live in is generally a VERY quiet one. It has a council yard at one end, so we don't get through traffic at all. Our house is not overlooked at the back, only by park fields, and delightfully, the playground. I suppose some folks do not like the sound of children playing, laughing and having fun, but I do thank God I am not one of those people.
I do not claim to be a gardener and never have done. I have to look things up, because I don't know what plant goes where, if it likes sunlight or dry conditions, even if it will come up again next year, but I do love to learn. Gardening has become a necessity for me. It is not a hobby I would have chosen to do, but as nobody else can do it here, then I have to try. It is not easy work to do, especially if you don't have great health, but I do my best, and the bits which aren't right will be sorted in time as I am able. When my dear Mum was fit and able, she enjoyed doing the garden, and it was like a miniature showpiece, with hanging baskets everywhere, and bulging flower beds. I don't have her green fingers and probably never will have, but I do my best, and thinking back to how the garden was a year ago, compared to now....well there is no comparison. In time there is a lot I would like to see out there, such as raised flower beds to make working on them easier, a new pond - as ours was here when we moved in - ( with a tiny bridge over it ), we plan on getting a new shed, as ours was bought by me years ago for housing birds when I bred them, and is not designed to house garden things really...but as they say, Rome was not built in a day, I do what I am able to, when I am able. I am sorry not everyone enjoyed the film...but am delighted for those who did.
I also loved the very special email from a dear friend who lives in the USA, who I have never met in person, who is planning a trip here, and said she would just LOVE to sit and have a coffee with me out there. What a joy that email was! She has green fingers -so I know I have a lot to live up to, but I am sure she will have lots of constructive advice for me, instead of criticism. I shall look forward to her visit so much, whenever it can happen, and shall work even harder out there in the garden so it is especially nice for her visit.

The weather continues to be beautiful. This early Autumn sunshine is surely good for warming the soul. For sure Megan enjoys it now it has cooled a little bit.
I don't know what my plans are for today.
The carer has just come to see to Mum, a very sweet lady...they are having a laugh at the moment about a grouchy carer who came yesterday. It's rather funny.
Anyway, have a lovely day everyone, and keep smiling!

Good Morning Everyone.
A busy one for me so far already, hence the late entry.
I have already been to the post office, and sorted out some laundry and got it on.
Today - time to colour my hair, and maybe fiddle in the garden as it's such a beautiful day.
This month, my dear Mum will have her 85th birthday, and as she always says, September is a lovely month, milder than the peak of summer, yet not cold like the bleakness of winter. I am hoping she is right.
My neighbour who lives opposite, Glenna, has just popped in with a basket of delicious home grown cherry tomatoes...isn't that nice? She told me that there is fruit to follow...yum yum...
Anyway, I wish you all a peaceful day.
God Bless!

I am hoping to add some Butterflies here today for you.

I have a lovely quote to leave you with today:
If instead of a gem, or even a flower, we should cast the gift of a loving thought into the heart of a friend, that would be giving as the angels give.

Good Morning Everyone.
Well, the holiday weekend is over here, and although I am nervous to say anything, I am feeling a wee bit better than of late. I think recovering from the tummy virus took me some time, and kind of knocked me for six. It was unfortunate it all happened just before a holiday weekend, as the carers don't visit then, so I have extra chores to get done. Anyway, I got through them okay, rested when I could, ate just a little ( enough to keep my blood sugars up ), and this morning, for the first time, I woke up feeling relatively human. Mum was sure relieved. She does get in a panic when I am not on top form.
This isn't to say that today I will be entering any marathons, decorating the house, or digging the garden. I know my limitations now, BUT- it is just nice to wake up feeling somewhere near normal, and not as if I am on my last legs.
There are a few new siggy tags on offer at
Sal's Siggys added late yesterday, for those into tags. There is also a tribute page added to BritSAL's List. I wont be adding much new here today, as I want to have a restful day, the first  day I have felt okay for quite a while. Hopefully, very soon I shall be adding some new stuff. But health comes first.
There are very few plans for today. I have one load of laundry to get done ( not much but it will get me up to date ), and I may decide to cook something nice for dinner. Other than that, simple tasks are the order of the day, and I will maybe treat today as the Bank Holiday I kind of missed, and take in a movie this afternoon. I fancy a delightful chick flick, or some such silly romantic thing.
Have a super Tuesday everyone, and do take care.

Some amusing film for you today:

Good Morning Everyone,
It's a Bank Holiday here in the UK today, which is nice, as it means David is home with me today and not at work. He is such a help and a comfort to me, just having him around.
Today there is a HUGE flea market & new stuff market at the airstrip, always on Bank Holidays. It is a place I used to enjoy to go for a look around, as they have antiques there, jewellery, veteran cars, new clothing, all manner of things ( in fact most stuff except for livestock ). I wont be going this year. Mum is still very unwell, and I am feeling so beat of late, I don't think I could cope with the distance walked there, as that place is so big. They have rows and rows of aisles, all crammed full, and by the time you have walked up and down, you can find you have easily walked miles...on grass too, which is tiring. It's also quite a walk from where you park the car to where the market is, and quite a walk back too, usually ladened with goodies bought which are heavy or bulky. I used to have a stall there myself very many years ago, specialising in jewellery. David used to help me, and also my friend Chris used to drive over and help. We used to have such fun, as I had a camper van then, and we used to cook up breakfast in it and make coffees. Market days were always an early start. I used to go every Sunday, rain or shine, leaving at around 5.30-6 am, getting home about 2 in the afternoon. They were long and tiring days, but my did we enjoy them. We'd often slot in another market if it was on a different day to Sunday too, like Bank Holiday Mondays at the airstrip, or sometimes a local school would rent out a field during holiday times, and we'd go to that. Sometimes, I miss those days..but...I am only too aware that these days I couldn't cope with such hard work ( we used to even put up a market frame and covers if it was raining. Those things are far worse than any jigsaw puzzle I have done )..and for sure I would hate the early starts nowadays. Since 2006, it takes me longer to get going in the mornings, and even when I do, I don't have the energy I had back then. However, it's nice to look back on those days, along with many others which I recall with a sharpness of mind which is unreal. Often I forget what I had for breakfast yesterday, but I recall things which happened a few years ago with clarity and precision. Maybe I was an elephant in a previous life? I have always adored elephants, especially baby ones, and maybe this is why? ( lol ).
Anyway, must get on with my day, and wish you a safe one.
God Bless!

Good Morning Everyone.
A busy morning today as usual getting Mum up and ready for the day.
I had a nice time yesterday, although I didn't stay very long. I am still feeling the after effects of being unwell the other day, so came home after an hour into the warm. Just haven't felt 100% of late. Very washed out and tired.
I feel a lot of it is to do with the diabetes. I haven't felt like eating, so have a low sugar count because of that.
David coped fine with Mum while I was gone.
Time to get on with my day today. We have lamb chops for a change today as they are a bit easier for me to cope with.
Lots of veggies as usual, and roast potatoes too.
Once I start feeling good again, I will add some butterflies etc to the site, but for the time being am trying to take things a bit easier. Have a great Sunday everyone, and do take care.

Morning Everyone.
Well - a much better nights sleep last night, and this morning I feel much improved. Must have been some sort of bug I think, as nobody else here had similar symptoms, and everyone ate the same. Yesterday I gave my digestion a rest. That's quite hard to do when you are diabetic, as you mustn't go without food or you feel even worse as the blood sugars drop, but I got through the day with just tiny little bits of nibbles. It's quite difficult to judge it right, but I managed. Lots of water
, and the occassional slice of toast throughout the day.
Today my plans will be interesting, and different.
I am happy that now I feel better I can attend the function I wrote about the other day. I am able to go because David is at home, and can call me if I am needed, and I can soon be home. At least the sun is shining this morning. Had it been like yesterday, I wouldn't have gone.
One of the red arrows came right over our house yesterday.

I managed to get a tiny bit of film, and will post that here soon. Things are rather busy here of late, with the caring for Mum, especially yesterday when I didn't feel well, it was beyond difficult. I do thank those who sent me get well messages - they were so much appreciated!
Today I am ready to take on the world again, albeit in tiny steps. LOL.
Have a great Saturday folks!

Good Morning Everyone.
I had a nasty bout of food poisoning last night, resulting in me feeling not so clever this morning, so will make this entry a brief one. I was going to go out this morning, but needless to say, I wont be moving far today now.
I found a great little bit of fishing film for you today, and hope you like it.

It's a bank holiday weekend here coming up in the UK, so for my UK readers , stay safe and well, and have a super time. The Red Arrows formation team will be doing a display over my town today, and usually go right over the house, so am expecting a noisy but enjoyable day.
Take care everyone, and catch you tomorrow.

August 26, 2010

I have actually been invited out Saturday afternoon & evening!
Normally, until now, I always said no to any such event, but this time, I have said a very definate YESSS. ( lol )
I feel that I am escaping for a time, and it feels good.
It's a nice social event too, with a fair few people going, so hopefully I will have a good time, recharge my internal batteries, and it will give me an event that I can wear my new skirt and top to (big smile ).
I guess it's a sad state of affairs really, that one social event should be blogworthy - but I truly forget the last time I went to any such do, which wasn't either shopping or visiting family. This will just be a fun thing to do.
I am really looking forward to it.
Whoohooo!

Going to watch THIS on TV tonight, Paradise Lost, about Brits living in Florida.

26th August 2010 AM

August 26, 2010

Good Morning Everyone,
As we approach a bank holiday weekend here in the UK. The weather is typical of such holidays, pouring with rain, and it has done so all night. I am lucky where my bedroom is located, I don't hear it. When I used to sleep at the back of the house, where we have a large conservatory ( some 20 feet long ), the rain used to beat on the plastic roof, and keep me awake. Not so anymore. I slept unusually well last night. I guess the sleepless night yesterday really beat me. Today I feel refreshed, and positive as to what the coming day might bring.
Hoping to see my friend Carole today. She is quite a little treasure, picking up bits and pieces I might need, knowing it is so hard to get out. But I enjoy her company when she is able to stay for a cuppa and a chat. It's lovely to hear what the latest news is with her family, and it does take my mind away from things going on here. I think we all need  constants in our life, and my friend Carole sure is one of those. She never changes, even when she was poorly with her back, always smiling and cheerful. The world could do with more Caroles'.
I am thinking of maybe going through my wardrobe ( closet ) today and having a clear out. It's a " chores inside " day today for sure, and my bedroom could do with a little spring clean, some TLC, and a clear out of things which no longer fit me, or which I don't use anymore. It sounds like a good idea to me. It always feel good after doing something productive too.
I am hoping also to add a few new Butterflies today. I have quite a backlog thanks to the lovely readers here, so shall try and add a few each day. Hoping also to add a new siggy tag or two at my Siggy Site ( including the one of mine below ).
God bless you all, and thank you for stopping by my journal today to see how I am doing. Really - so mjuch better than yesterday! I trust you are doing great too!

When I was at school, the summer break felt r-e-a-l-l-y long. I mean, the last day of school before summer break, felt like we had forever off . It seems that nowadays, the schools break up, and no sooner have they done so, than the advertisements on TV are for new school uniforms, ready for going back again? Is it me, or do summers feel shorter now than they ever were? If you have an idea on this, do post in my guestbook.

Good Morning Everyone.
I
t's a bright one here this morning. Sadly I am feeling rather like a dishrag. For some unknown reason I didn't sleep a wink last night. I got up this morning at my usual time to care for Mum, but feel like I should go back to bed for the day, lol.
At five in the morning, after sleep had eluded me all night, I took a mild sleeping pill, but of course it only started to work as I got up. Great! Now I feel like a zombie in overdrive.
Circumstances will force an easy day today I am sure. And possibly an early night tonight. I can't really sleep in the day or have a lay-in because of Mum. Anyway - today I feel...

I am delighted Josie won the last ever UK Big Brother last night. Her face was pure delight as they announced she had won. well worth watching, and a most deserved winner. Wonderful that she is donating a fifth of her winnings to a childrens cancer charity, and also is going to treat her fellow housemate Steve, who lost his legs in the army in Ireland, to a new artificial leg which he desperately needed. We didn't know this until after she had won.
She got, I believe over 70% of the votes from the final five in the house, so I obviously wasn't alone in thinking she deserved to win. Born in the same town as myself, I believe Josie has a heart of gold.
Well have a super day everyone.
Please note - those who visit my Siggy Tag site, that the main rule there is for each person to order just one tag a day. I can't possibly do whole lists of tags for folks, I just don't have the time. Please read the rules on the home page there before ordering. Tags nearest the top will be the first to expire.
Have a super day, and I hope yours is filled with energy!

Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray?
I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.
